Season's Greetings and Happy Holidays to you all!

The month of December offers everyone opportunities for spoiling those we care about, showing appreciation and all round celebration! As the often hectic holiday season approaches we'd like to highlight some of the ways Taylorwood Wines can help make your choices a little easier!

We are offering our very popular gift baskets again this year in four sizes; hostess, small, medium and large. With prices to fit any budget we have the hostess basket for $49, small basket $99, medium basket $149 and the large basket at $199. All sizes are available at the store, can be ordered over the phone or by e-mail and can be customized with a bit of notice. Always an excellent opportunity for corporate gifts because we can arrange all the packaging and shipping for you!

All gift baskets include a minimum of one wonderful bottle of BC VQA Wine, great wine gadgets, gourmet sweet or savoury food items, including everyone's favorite, chocolate, from an award winning local chocolate "Atelier"!

We also have the "Ultimate Gift" which is four bottles of premium BC VQA Wine and two Riedel Crystal Vinum XL series glasses showcased in a beautiful wooden gift box for $250.00.

There are some fun ideas for the wine "hobbyists" or the wine "experts". Wine Smarts cards and Wine In The Kitchen are both interactive "games" for those looking to increase their wine knowledge. Even better with friends and a few bottles of wine!

In the spirit of celebration we have some fun tastings scheduled this month giving you the opportunity to try some wines perfect for any occasion! A new winery to come into our store for a tasting Dec 22nd is Painted Rock. This small production, premium winery has only been spotted previously in restaurants and at the winery. In perfect time for the festive season we have a great new fun, value wine label from Jackson Triggs - Strut! With names like "Well-Heeled White", "Red Over Heels" and "Risque Rose" and labels to match, the conversation won't be lacking. Don't be fooled by the "shenanigans" though, the wines are seriously good for the price!

If the group is larger or you just want to impress, don't forget the magnums of bubbles from Sumac Ridge and the Mission Hill Oculus.

Another cast member at Taylorwood Wines, Alex has spent a lot of time vacationing in our fair province and visiting wineries. Since starting with our store in August, Alex has become quite a fan of our local product. He can usually be found at Taylorwood in the evenings so on your way home from work, stop in and ask him for advice on finding that perfct wine for you. He is a great asset to the Taylorwood family. For fun, you can ask him to teach you some German!

With Christmas just around the corner, it is time to think about getting the perfect gift for the wine lover in your life. Two unique wines being produced in B.C. will be sure to satisfy their palate! First is a port-style called D'oro, made by Vista D'oro winery. The D'oro carries the classic traits of a traditional port but has been fortified with a locally produced walnut brandy. The noticeable walnut characteristics provide this port-style with a smooth, nutty finish which makes it the perfect pairing for chocolate based desserts. Equally as striking is the Sparkling Riesling Icewine produced by Jackson-Triggs. This one of a kind icewine displays the tremendous skill of the winemaker who was able to create a second fermentation despite the naturally high sugar content of the icewine. The lively, silky palate is filled with notes of pear and tropical fruit. This vivacious wine is ideal for pairing with decadent desserts or to simply enjoy on it's own. Be sure to pick up either of these wines to make a memorable Christmas for the recipient!
