Tyson and I, along with the staff, wanted to take this opportunity to highlight a few new happenings with Taylorwood Wines - Yaletown...new ownership, new staff, a new look for Yaletown with the completion of the RAV line, and a new look within the store. We'd also like to introduce you to a new service we are offering at Taylorwood - our WINE CLUB! The wine club is a chance for us to provide you, our customer, with an opportunity to conveniently purchase wines picked by our BC Wine experts at the store. A little bit about the new ownership... My husband and I have been involved in the BC Wine Industry since we first opened Taylorwood's doors in 2004. Our love of wine and our touring of various wine regions of the world inspired us to open up Taylorwood Wines - Yaletown. It was a natural pairing as Tyson grew up in the Okanagan with our beautiful wine country truly being his backyard. In April of this year we decided to go solo and took over 100% ownership of the store. We are thrilled with the opportunity to show off what the BC Wine Industry has to offer!

We have a couple of wineries new to the BC Wine Industry to tell you about!

Clos Du Soleil, from the Similkameen Valley, offers both a red and white Bordeaux blend. These wines show what great promise there is in this "new" wine region. The sun really is shining on this new winery.

Young and Wyse is brand new to the store and Taylorwood Wines had the privilege of being the first store in Vancouver to carry it. Longtime Burrowing Owl winemaker and self-proclaimed "black sheep", Stephen Wyse with his partner Michelle Young have left the flock to launch their own line of exceptional wines, the Young and Wyse Collection. Their winery is BC's southernmost with the vineyards sloping toward the lake on the east and west bench in Osoyoos. There are only two wines from this duo so far, a Merlot and Shiraz, which are both available at the store when we can keep them in stock! We look forward to tasting what they will release in the future.

We've been lucky to have Rita with Taylorwood Wines since 2007. She often pours for our in-store tastings and is always a wealth of knowledge about the wines and the wineries being represented! Her passion for wine and experience within the BC Wine Industry is something she loves sharing with anyone enthusiastic about learning more or even debating her favourite topic...

"The great thing about shopping VQA is that you can buy local, and often find those gems that aren't available anywhere else. One of my favourite things is to travel off the beaten track and try something different, like the winery Noble Ridge. After giving their wines a try, I wondered why I had waited so long. Their chardonnay is beautifully balanced, with a lingering finish of stone fruit and cream. It is just the thing for creamy pastas or just plain casual sipping. They also happen to make my fave BC Pinot Noir, the '06 being very earthy and bold, just my style. Why not step off your beaten track and try something new (to you) from BC." - Rita

This month our Thursday tastings will feature a winery representative pouring their wines. It gives them an opportunity to tell their story and introduce their wines to you and gives you a chance to ask those really tough questions!
